Artists Commit Mentors for Climate Impact Reports

Artists Commit is now able to provide artists with an Artists Commit Mentor to support them in completing a Climate Impact Report (CIR) thanks to the Teiger Foundation.

Climate Impact Reports (CIR) are a self-reporting process initiated by Artists Commit to invite collaborators into a conversation about the climate impact of projects, to introduce the project team to key areas of climate impact, and to promote a practice of transparency within the sector when it comes to confronting the climate crisis. You can learn more and see past reports here

What kind of support can I expect to receive?

The Artists Commit Mentor is an Artists Commit member who has previously completed a CIR and provides the following support:

  • Kick Off Meeting to provide an overview of the CIR process tailored to your project

  • Liaison to the Artists Commit Mentor community to support on specialized questions

  • Mid Project Check In Meeting

  • Review of the completed CIR

  • Facilitates the publication of the CIR to the Artists Commit report archive

Additionally, Artists Commit will connect you with a community of other teams working on Climate Impact Reports.

Is there funding available?

For projects that receive an Artists Commit Mentor, we provide two optional stipends, one for the artist team and one for the presenting partner team. Each stipend is for $500 and is designed to cover approximately 10 hours of labor to complete the CIR.

Selected projects can also request additional funds of $1500 that are used to cover direct expenses that will improve the climate impact of the project.

Who can receive an Artists Commit Mentor?

Artists can receive an Artists Commit Mentor to support them in completing a Climate Impact Report (CIR) for an exhibition or project being publicly presented by a presenting partner in the US.

Requests will be accepted on a rolling basis until capacity is met. Availability is based on the Artists Commit Mentor team’s capacity to appropriately support a specific project. We will notify you of an Artists Commit Mentor’s availability within 3-4 weeks of receiving the request.

This opportunity is designed to support artists who want to introduce a Climate Impact Report to their presenting partner in order to better understand the Climate Impact of their projects and to catalyze climate action through their exhibitions. Presenting partners are also invited to encourage the artist(s) they are working with to apply on the project’s behalf. For requests made exclusively on behalf of a presenting partner or to inquire about paid consulting options for projects that require additional support, please email artistscommit@gmail.com.
